Facing Casa d’Além you found, jagged on the horizon, the imposing Marão mountain. A mountain that has been considered “the border to the no ascending land”....
Today it is already tamed, presenting highways and confortable tarmac routes that conduce you almost everywhere.
Our proposal it’s a circuit that will take you to the top of the mountain and, quietly, takes no more than 3 hours to go through.
This suggestion includes a visit to Pinhão. On the road to get there, always bording the river, you will find successively the farms where Port Wine is produced, On the other side of the river the railway line is a single presence.
You propose you to continue to Vila Real, passing through Mateus (a magnificent palace from the XVII century).
Coming back to Casa d’Além visit “S. Leonardo da Galafura”, one of the most impressive belevederes in the region.
In this circuit we suggest you a cruise on the Douro river followed by a wine taste on a Port Wine producer farm.
A visit to Pinhão is also included as well to Sabrosa and Vila Real. Meanwhile some interesting visits to monuments and belevederes are possible.
It´s possible to walk around Casa d’Além.
You may choose to visit a 300 years old church or to go down, radically, to the river.
Meanwhile it’s always time to appreciate the vineyards with its magnificent walls.
